President Bush: Breaking It Down "Barney Style"

Sometimes you need something broken down to the lowest common denominator. Sometimes you need things explained to you in the simplest terms in order for you to grasp the gravity of a situation.

President Bush is that kind of a guy. He knows when he needs to choose his words carefully, and rarely fails to impress even his staunchest critics:

"Obviously there are some who are trying to sow the seeds of sectarian violence," Bush said. "They destroy in order to create chaos. And now, the people of Iraq and their leaders must make a choice. The choice is chaos or unity, the choice is a free society, or a society dictated by evil people who would kill innocents."

Bush noted that he had spoken to seven Iraqi political leaders on Saturday in an effort to defuse the sectarian violence. "They understood the seriousness of the moment. They have made their choice, which is to work toward a unity government," Bush said.

Iraqis have suffered through days of reprisal killings and attacks on Sunni mosques since bombers blew apart the gold dome of the revered Shiite Askariya shrine in Samarra last Wednesday.

"The United States strongly condemns the bombing of holy sites," Bush said. "We believe people should be allowed to worship freely."

Bush said that 11 million Iraqis "made their choice ... and said we want to be free" by going to the polls in December's elections "in defiance of the terrorists and the killers."

The bad thing is that so many people are so rabid in their hatred of the President, they will fail to grasp how simple it is to see how crucial our Victory in Iraq truly is, or even how much progress we've made...

Right Truth: Terrorist Fashion Trends!

Debbie over at RightTruth has an excellent post on the fashion sense of terrorists. Definitley worth a few minutes of your time!

President Ahmadinejad of Iran chooses a sports jacket, white shirt, and no tie. Prefering to look casual and unconcerned about being the target of the free world as he continues his nuclear program today...

Seriously, you've gotta check it out. And if you leave a comment, tell her the TankerBrothers sent you.

War Mix

Please remember to leave your suggestions for a "War Mix" for my Buddy's Iraq Care Package.

Keep it simple. Remember, he's an infantryman.

File This Under "Why Am I Not Surprised..."

I guess funding troublemakers and terrorists is Europe's time-tested "Continental Pastime".

European Union foreign ministers are expected to continue providing millions of euros in aid for much-needed funds to the Palestinian caretaker government today.

The EU ministers’ meeting in Brussels is not expected to decide on what the 25-nation bloc will do once the Hamas-led government takes control of the Palestinian Authority.

Options for the EU include offering £27m (€39.6m) in new aid to help run utilities such as power supply an waste collection, and authorising the World Bank to unblock around £34m (€50m) to pay the salaries of Palestinian Authority employees.

Aid is urgently needed after Israel’s decision to withhold £28m (€41m) a month in tax funds following Hamas’ election victory.

The EU and the US have called on Hamas to recognise Israel, renounce violence and back peace efforts if it wants its new government to receive aid.

1. Hamas is a terrorist organization, with no desire to work with, or even recognize the Israelis.
2. Lately, the Europeans have been on the "wrong side" of almost everything.

Can someone please give our "friends" good counsel? Why not hold back foreign aid dollars until Hamas recognizes Israel's right to exist?

Oh, I forgot...because that would be the right thing to do...

Look, I know that the arguement can be made that if Western nations hold back funding, then it will leave the door wide open for Iran to provide aid. That's all well and good, I suppose, but at some point you have to take a stand. Growing some -ahem- stones and doing someting about Iran would be a good start. Without radical Islamic funding from their friends in Iran, Hamas would have no choice but to play nice with Israel and actually work towards peace.

[Edit: Y'know, my Dad always taught me to take "The Hard Right" over "the Easy Wrong". Why is it so hard for nations to do the same?]

HOOAH! (...But You Know, We're Losing And All...)

Once again, a marvelous weekend in Iraq:

FORWARD OPERATING BASE CONSTITUTION, Iraq – More than 150 3rd Brigade, 6th Iraqi Army Division Soldiers stood proudly at attention Feb. 5 to receive their graduation confirmation following six weeks of grueling training.
The soldiers had just completed the Iraqi Army’s new basic training course and are amongst the first training cycles to graduate from the academy here.
The basic training course was run completely by the Iraqi Army, but a U.S. Military Transition Team was available for guidance when needed.
Lt. Col. Hazim Abdel, executive officer for the Iraqi brigade, said he is proud of his new soldiers and that more recruits are on their way.
“These men felt very lazy before joining the army because many of them did not feel like they had a purpose before,” he said. “Now they feel that they are doing something important by protecting their great country of Iraq. Soon we will have another group coming for the next cycle.”

I am so proud of the Iraqis. Their citizens are standing up to fight for their country. every single private in the Iraqi Army that graduates from Basic Training is a black eye on the face of "Al Qaeda In Iraq" and Ol' Abu Musab "Numbnuts" Al-Zarqawi.

It would be beautiful if one of these hard chargers would be the guy to take that son of a motherless goat out of commission.

How It Is...

You know, sometimes I post about what it's like to be a Tanker, but some people may have no clue what it takes. I came across this old(er) article, maybe a couple of years ago, but still pretty cool:

Early on day one, as tired recruits waited patiently in formation outside a still-closed barbershop, their drill sergeant strongly encouraged them to ask questions.
"What's basic training like, drill sergeant?" one of them asked timidly.
"You need to be thinking, right now: 'I'm not going to quit. You can't make me quit.' That's what it's like," answered SSgt. Michael G. Wood, a member of Company A, 46th Adjutant General Battalion.
"It's red week. Nothing comes easy; you've got to want it. We're going to tighten the screws to put you under some pressure. But nobody's going to get killed here - that can happen to you in combat if we don't train you right," Wood added.
After standing in the biting cold for a while, the recruits moved inside and waited. One-by-one, each had his head shaved and returned to formation. Then the group marched to the health clinic for a battery of shots and blood tests.
The sign outside Copple Center at Fort Knox, Ky., reads: "Welcome to the United States Army -- 46th AG Reception Station."
A Hollywood film crew erected the prop for the movie "Stripes" and left it behind when the movie was completed, said drill sergeant SSgt. Ace Clark.
The Army begins here for prospective new armor crewmen and reconnaissance scouts entering One-Station Unit Training at Fort Knox.
Following several days of orientation and preparation for basic training -- completing paperwork, drawing uniforms, obtaining I.D. cards and so forth -- the privates move into their quarters about a mile-and-a-half away.
"The rationale behind OSUT is better training in MOSs where it's feasible to consolidate basic and Advanced Individual Training, that is, if the MOS population is large enough," said Col. Scott Feil, commander of the 1st Armored Training Brigade that's responsible for turning recruits into the Army's next generation of armor crewmen and scouts.
Among the benefits of OSUT is a better drill sergeant-trainee ratio, Feil said. Army regulations call for a 1 to 17 ratio in basic training; 1 to 50 in AIT. "OSUT achieves the 1 to 17 ratio throughout its 15 to 16 weeks."
Additionally, the cadre in basic and AIT hold the same MOSs for which the recruits are being trained. That's true in AIT at non-OSUT posts, too, but not true in non-OSUT basic training, where drill sergeants represent the Army's full spectrum of MOSs, Feil said.
"New recruits come in three times a week at various hours in the evening," Feil continued. "We sit them down, welcome them and tell them what to expect."
Upon arrival, some sport baggy pants over wiry frames. They wear thin jackets in the dead of winter. And their crops of long hair fall across their faces with every movement.
Some look like they'll never make it through 14 grueling weeks of basic and AIT, 15 weeks for reconnaissance scouts and armor crewmen who get orders to an M1A2 tank unit. One's chubby and slow, others simply look too scared. (Starting on Oct. 1, all new recruits will undergo an additional week of training in human relations, focusing on Army values.)
"The initial reaction to being in the Army is shock," said Pvt. 1 Mikael Madsen, 19, a recruit from Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, who enlisted in the Army for "discipline, money, maturity and college benefits," he said. "I'm a little scared, a little confused. I got in at midnight and got up at 4 a.m."
He spent part of his first full Army day lying on the floor, waiting for his head to stop spinning after the shots.
"During the first portion of OSUT, we turn civilians into soldiers, teaching them basic training skills like those taught elsewhere in the Army," said Capt. Mark Elfendahl, commander of Co. C, 2nd Bn., 81st Armor, part of the 1st ATB.
During the first eight weeks of training, prospective armor crewmen must learn 119 common soldier tasks and 127 MOS-specific tasks. Prospective scouts, who undergo training on the Bradley fighting vehicle and Humvee, must learn 218 MOS-specific tasks, Feil said.
Difficulty levels increase as the weeks progress.
During a recent rotation, fourth-week OSUT trainees warmed their hands over large, coal-burning drums as they waited to fire the Army's new M-4 carbine.
Snow dusted the hilly terrain at Mendick Range, where trainees gathered for the weapon familiarization training. The privates would fire 10 rounds each at computer-driven pop-up targets 50 to 200 meters away.
Elsewhere on post, trainees in their sixth week faced a landmark event - Act l - 10 individual tests that would gauge what they had learned at the end of the first phase of instruction. Act II, Act III and the Tank Crew Gunnery Skills test follow.
To pass Act I, soldiers must be able to give a SALUTE -- a report that includes information about enemy size, activity, location, unit, time and equipment, said 1st Sgt. Robert Headlee, from Co. A, 2nd Bn., 81st Armor. They have to know how to load and clear a 9mm pistol, don MOPP-4 gear and follow decontamination procedures, and provide first-aid, among other things.
"Act I is the toughest of the tests," said Headlee, "because it's the first big test. Once the privates get this under their belts, they feel more comfortable."
A majority of Act II involves map reading, said SFC Michael Bennett, an 81st Armor drill sergeant. Act III covers crew-served weapons, including the M-240 and M-2 machine guns.
The Tank Crew Gunnery Skills test, required of every U.S. Army tanker before he's allowed to fire, includes assembling and disassembling weapons, successfully identifying 18 of 20 vehicles and the three main tank-gun rounds, bore-sighting, and preparing the gunner's and loader's stations for operation.
"There's not one event that's a 'killer,'" said Bennett of the variety and level of training conducted during OSUT, including eight to 10 days in the field.
"If there was one major thing, it could very well be physical training. Trainees are supposed to be able to do 13 pushups when they arrive at OSUT, 42 by the 15th week," Bennett said. "That's when they must achieve 60 points in each event, or a total of 180, the minimum Army requirement. That's tough for someone who's been in the Army for only 15 weeks."
To get in shape, privates perform 3- to 10-kilometer road marches carrying a 35-pound rucksack, weapon and Kevlar helmet.
Before they leave Fort Knox, trainees will "drive" more than 50 miles in various computer-simulated scenarios via one of the Armor School's $2.7 million tank-driver simulators. The $58 million Tank Driver Simulation Facility includes 18 M1A1 simulators and two, $8.9 million M1A2 simulators, said SSgt. Harold Peckenpaugh, from Headquarters, HQs Co., 3rd Bn., 81st Armor.
They will have live-fired six rounds from the M1A1's main gun and driven a tank about 18 actual miles, some of it over hardtop roads, some in mud and water, Headlee said.
Depending on their follow-on unit assignment, some privates will also learn to operate the more technologically intricate M1A2.
"The training is easier than I thought it would be," said PFC Shane Pulig, a member of Co. D, 1st Bn., 103rd Armor, a National Guard unit in Connellsville, Pa. Pulig received an accelerated promotion because he entered the Army with 65 college credits.
"I thought we'd spend more time in the field," he said. "Possibly the toughest part of this is just getting adjusted to the life, to all the rushing around. I'm not used to getting up at 5 a.m. and doing PT at 5:25, or sharing a room with 10 other guys."
"They say being in the Army gives you an edge," said Madsen. "It gives you a physical and mental awareness that's an important part of life. That's why I'm here, and I'm definitely going to make it through.
"I've traveled around the country, and the people I've met who have been in the military seem to be better off," he continued. "The first thing they tell you is 'you'll be part of a team,' and that 'the Army teaches family values that aren't present everywhere today.'"
It's a package recruits like Madsen are willing to work hard to attain.

I think that's just incredible, and that's how I remember Basic Training (OSUT). Interested? Go here and check it out!

"The Man Who Broke Haloscan"

Well, not really. But my ol' 31 GT score was in full effect. (If you don't know what a GT score is, once again, you'll miss the humor in that statement)

Anyway, as any good (bullsh*t) Army story starts: "There I was, no sh*t..."

It was late one night, and I was toolin' around with Haloscan (what I use for commenting and trackbacks on this blog). Anyway, I was fiddling with settings, and I inadverdantly accidentally enabled "comment moderation".

That being said, every comment anyone left would go into "Limbo".

Don't worry, I recovered them all (and it took a while).

Check this out: it is contrary to what I believe to enable "comment moderation". If you're a Looney Leftist, or an Anti-War Crazy, then I welcome you to comment, just as I do my more like-minded readers. If you want to post a conspiracy theory or what have you (you know who you are), then I'm going to leave it up, just because I want to give you more than enough rope to hang yourself and show everyone how crazy you really are.

Two exceptions to this policy:
1. Any racist or otherwise offensive comments will be deleted as soon as I read them. Cursing is okay, as long as it's not cursing for cursing's sake.
2. Any comment violating our disclaimer or OPSEC guidelines for official information release will be deleted immediately.
So let's keep it clean, and let's keep it "real". (Fo' Rizzle).

Camp Katrina: No More?

I've got good news, and I have bad news.

First the Bad News: Camp Katrina, who worked hard to bring you the best of what the US Military is doing for people all over the world, is no more. That's right, boys and girls...Camp Katrina will no longer be updated.

Check it out, Katrina Campers: it's been fun here, but our efforts to tell the good news about the U.S. military have started to outgrow this blog's name and design.

Now for the good news: Camp Katrina is being moved over to MilTracker! If you really want to know the great things our military does all over the world, then MilTracker is probably the best "first place" to go to. Check it out...you won't be disappointed!

I Need Your Help!

I posted somehting a while back about Mix CD's being a big deal for Soldiers that are deployed in Iraq. Care Packages are are well and good, but remember, there are shopettes all over Iraq where "Joe" can pick up things like toothpase, soap, and toilet paper. What "Joe" is really hungry for are things he can't get in Iraq: Photos of family and friends, a favorite magazine, books, DVD's that he can't get off the local nationals, and Mix CD's of music.

While it's true that most Soldiers have MP3 players in theater, nothing beats a good Mix CD that "Joe" can rip to his iPod. Maybe he'll discover some music that he's never heard of, or maybe he'll get a good inpiring song that helps him through the deployment.

Either way, Mix CD's are a cool add-in to ANY care package.

That being said, one of my good buddies is in Baghdad, and I'm putting together a box for him. When I got to the Mix CD part of the checklist, I kind of held off in the hope that I could get some input from the readers of the Tanker Brothers.

So here's your chance. Click on the "Comments" link to this post and give me one or two suggestions. Who knows? My buddy may end up with a few mix CD's, depending on how many suggestions we get. Let's all get together and come up with the "Ultimate Warfighting" playlist. I'll buy all the music from iTunes, so I'm not asking anyone for anything other than your suggestions for a good, kick-butt mix.

Hillary Clinton: Pandering To The Masses

Here's a quote from the Hildabeast:
"We cannot cede sovereignty over critical infrastructure like our ports. This is a job that America has to do."
Pretty good attempt at interjecting herself into current events, but...

Our ports aren't run by the US now. They're run by the British. And we aren't talking about every single one of our ports. We're talking about six.

Good job of doing that good ol' background research, Hillary.

[Edit: In all fairness, I really have no opinion on the well-publicized "Port Deal". I can see President Bush's point that the U.A.E. are valuable Allies in the War on Terror. I also recognize that our largest airbase in the Middle East is located in the U.A.E., and the U.A.E. is well within striking distance of Iran.

As a counterpoint, however, we really do need to take responsibility for the running of our own ports. There are very few US companies that could do that, the most notable one being Halliburton/Kellog, Brown, and Root. Unfortunately, with most of their assests already committed to our interests in the Middle East... who else can we turn to?

To be honest, though...denying the opportunity to bid on the administration of the ports to one of our Allies, for the sole reason that they are Arab, gives a horribly racist impression to the rest of the world. If the British ran those six ports before, and they were also our Allies in the War on Terror... what reason do we have to deny the opportunity to another one of our allies?]

Iranian Pimp

Is the "Beast from the Middle East" chillin' with some of those 72 virgins promised to him when he grows the balls, straps a claymore to himself (wrong way out), and blows himself up (doing all of us a huge favor)?

No, but really, it's a picture of Iranian Wackaloon Dictator President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad waits to speak at a women's conference in Tehran, Iran February 6, 2006.

Can someone please hurry up and call in a Tomahawk Missile strike on this idiot?

Y'know...just because.

REM: Cindy Sheehan Acolytes?

I always knew that REM were kind of "progressive", but I enjoyed their music anyway. I kind of got turned off to them a few years ago, after "Automatic For The People".

They really embarassed me during the 2004 Election, when they teamed up with Bruce Springsteen to try to swing the votes to Kerry (which was a miserable failure).

I guess Michael Stipe has a new cause to champion: Cindy Sheehan's crazy crusade to dishonor the efforts of US Soldiers deployed in the War on Terror:

Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan will be the guest of honor at the "Bring `Em Home" concert at New York`s Hammerstein Ballroom.

Among the performers scheduled to play March 20 are R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe, Bright Eyes, Rufus Wainwright, Fischerspooner, Public Enemy`s Chuck D, Devendra Banhart and Peaches, Billboard.com reported.

Sheehan will address the audience at the concert noting the third anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq, Billboard said.

Janeane Garafalo will broadcast her Air America Radio show \'The Majority Report\' live from the concert.

Money raised by the show will go to Iraq Veterans Against the War and Veterans for Peace.

Okay, let's look at this rationally:
1. Cindy Sheehan: Has-Been that has burned up her 15 minutes of fame a long time ago
2. Bright Eyes: Never heard of them [Edit: Still never heard of them, but previewed them on iTunes...they suck.
3. Rufus Wainwright: Never heard of him [Edit: Previewed on iTunes, Read about him on Wikipedia...still sucks]
4. Fischerspooner: Kind of Depeche Mode-ish, never heard of them until today. Suck.
5. Chuck D: Used to be cool during the Public Enemy days, currently a Has-Been.
6. Devendra Banhart and Peaches: Really Wierd. Kinda Scary. Scruffy San Fran Folky wierdo.
7. Janeane Garafalo: Has-been comedienne, annoying, tightly integrated into train-wreck Al Franken "Air America" Radio. Loser.
8. REM: Used to be cool. Haven't produced anything even remotely good in at least 10 years.
Okay... now my take:

Why is it that every famous person that finally gets a platform decides they know better than I do what is good for me, politically? These people get paid to play an instrument and sing. They don't get paid to preach to me about whether or not I am fighting a righteous war.

Bruce Springsteen, Michael Stipe, Bono... I really couldn't care less what you think about the War, or President Bush, or frankly, anything else.

Do you notice one thing about the list above of participants in this "Bring 'Em Home" concert? None of them have ever served in the US Military. None of them have ever served in an elected public office.

Why don't you ask some of the Soldiers fighting the War on Terror if they want to leave without finishing the job? Do you realize that the US Army is experiencing some of the highest re-enlistment numbers ever? Doesn't that tell you something?

It sure does tell me something: it tells me that we (the Soldiers) are overwhelmingly behind what we do. And no preachy has been is going to convince us otherwise.

So take it from the Tanker Brothers: "Piss off, REM."

Liberals and The House Of War

Dar al-Harb (Arabic: دار الحرب "house of war") is a term used to refer to those areas outside Muslim rule. In some conservative traditions of Islam the world is divided into two components: dar al-Islam, the "house of submission" , and dar al-Harb, the "house of war" . The terms are usually understood to refer, respectively, to those lands currently administered by Muslimgovernments and those administered by non-Muslim governments.

Taken from the Wikipedia

The Left just doesn't get it, do they? I was re-reading one of my favorite books: The Crisis Of Islam by Bernard Lewis, one of the most respected experts in Islam in the West.

In his book, Lewis writes:

...For Usama Bin Laden, his declaration of war against the United States marks the resumption of the struggle for religious dominance of the world that began in the seventh century. For him and his followers, this is a moment of opportunity. Today, America exemplifies the civilization and embodies the leadership of the House of War, and like Rome and Byzantium, it has become degenerate and demoralized, ready to be overthrown. But despite its weakness, it is also dangerous. Khomeini's designation of the United States as "the Great Satan" was telling, and for members of Al-Qa'ida it is the seduction of America and of its profligate, dissolute way of life that represents the greatest threat to the kind of Islam they wish to impose on their fellow Muslims." (emphasis added for clarification)

Here's what I don't get: Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry, Teddy Kennedy, and the rest of the Liberal Left will do anything and everything they can to undermine our efforts to win the War on Terror. They don't do it out of any genuine desire to lose, but out of hatred for the President.

They are short sighted, and fail to see "The Big Picture".

The weakness of Liberalism is what extremist Muslims hate about us the most. That is what makes us "degenerate and demoralized". Does anyone think for a moment that religious extremists would support something as horrific as Abortion? These people follow Muslim law, where a thief has his arm chopped off, and an adulteress is stoned to death! Do you really think for a second that they give any credibility to people that don't have the stones to enforce the death penalty?

By undermining our efforts at winning this battle of cultures, the Crazy Left actually validates the reasons people like Bin Laden hate us! They tell the world we are weak, indecisive, and so focused on hedonism and sin as to make them even more righteous (in their own minds)!

Sean Hannity once said that the roots of this War date back to President Jimmy Carter's abandonment of the Shah of Iran back in 1979 when the US was needed most. I don't think that's accurate.

I honestly believe every generation goes through a test.

"The Greatest Generation" faced theirs during WWII. Instead of staying out of the war while Axis forces conquered nation after nation, murdering millions, the United States plunged headlong into battle. We committed millions of Soldiers to stopping Hitler, Mussolini, and the Imperial Forces of Japan. We succeeded.

My Dad's generation, the Baby Boomers, failed miserably in their test - Vietnam. To be fair, the Soldiers didn't fail. We, as a nation - as a people, failed them. We lost the stomach for battle. We lost the will to fight a righteous war. And we have been paying for that mistake ever since.

Now, it's our turn. My generation is faced with a War that has its roots not in politics, but in cultures. WWII was about Land and Governments. Vietnam was about the battle of Democracy versus Communism. The War on Terror - Iraq, Afghanistan, and Iran - is a battle for our way of life. It's a battle for the Freedom from Fear. Every red-blooded American man and woman knows that this is a battle we cannot afford to lose. Defeat is not an option, for it will cost us more dearly than any other War before this one. Defeat would mean we would no longer be the world's superpower. It would mean that we could no longer be a beacon of Liberty enlightening the World, but instead a craven dog begging at the tables of those who would impose their will upon us.

The left want to secure civil liberties for terrorists incarcerated in place like Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. They want to secure civil liberties for those who would deny us the same. They want to secure civil liberties for thugs and henchmen of nations and organizations who are the worst violators of basic human rights. The irony of this is what makes men like Osama Bin Laden and Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi hate us for our weakness.

This is our test, and a crossroads in history. This is a crusade in the traditions of the Crusades of old. Instead of bringing Christianity, however, we bring Democracy and Freedom to people in parts of the world who have never known or experienced these things. We are in a fight for the future of both our way of life, and the future of the World as a whole.

You can be on the losing side, or you can be on our side.

The choice is yours.

[Edit: If you want to know my point, it's this:

As proof that the Left will do anything to undermine the President's vision for success, they would go so far as to demand "rights for terrorists". I think it's hilarious that they fight so hard in favor of those who would kill innocent Americans, while their "Progresive Agenda" is precisely the weakness that Extremist Muslims hate about us the most.

Is that connected enough for you, "Anonymous"? Next time, be real and post your name/email address so we can take you for someting other than a craven coward. ]

Religion Of Peace?

I need to take fewer days off...

Surfing through the Blogosphere, I came across The Absurd Report, and the best posting I have read so far on the so-called "Religion Of Peace".

Here's an excerpt:

Let me get this straight. Islamic apologists want us all to believe that Islam is a religion of peace. Even our own president is pushing this idea on us, but when put to practical application, no one in the known world can find a peaceful Muslim anywhere. 16 are dead in Nigeria, 11 in Libya, and the Pakistani cleric, Mohammed Yousef Quereshi has offered a $1 million dollar reward to kill the cartoonist who depicted the Muslim leader as violent.

Gee. Wherever did the cartoonist get that nutty idea?

I’m sick of this. The world has gone crazy. All over the place, newspapers are buckling under the pressure. In Russia a newspaper was shut down after printing the cartoon. Are they insane? Way to go! The terrorists win yet again! All it takes, apparently, is some rioting and a few deaths and the free world caves. What is going on here? Personally, I’d like to see them try and pull that @!#$ here. We’re still smarting from losing 3000 Americans on 9-11. If even one more person dies at the hands of angry Muslims on our soil, expect vigilante style uprisings. They have pushed us pretty far, but there is a limit to our tolerance.

And speaking of tolerance, the holy grail of the liberal faith, do you think liberals are figuring out who the real intolerant fundamentalists are yet or do you think they still hold Jerry Fallwell up as public enemy number 1? If they think the Christian right is homophobic, try a same sex smootch on the streets of Iran. I’d say you’d be lucky if all you got was a bullet in the head from one of Iran’s “peaceful” clerics. Or what about all the other devient lifestyles the left embraces? Have you ever seen what Muslims do to adulterous women? All of Hollywood’s leading ladies would have had their perfect plastic surgeries marred by the flying rocks at their public stonings.

The Absurd Report does a kick-butt job of summing up:

Could we rescind the “peaceful religion” Oscar from Islam and give it to the Hindis or the Jews for Jesus? They’re pretty quiet. Neither one has made it into the news in the past few years for hiring contract killers or detonating suicide bombs in crowded cafes. But that would just make too much sense, (something that liberals just don’t have and sadly never will.)

The Absurd Report is officially today's "Tanker Brothers' Blog O' The Day".

Yet Another Reason...

...To go kick Iran's butt.

It's not enough for the rest of the world that they are actively enriching Uranium in a quest to join the "nuclear club", but their support of Anti-US militias in Iraq is well documented, and a threat to security in the region:

Iran is playing "a negative role" in Iraq by providing weapons, training and other support to militias and insurgent groups that interfere in Iraqi politics, the U.S. ambassador to Iraq said at a news conference on Monday.

"I have said to Iraqis that we do not seek to impose our differences with Iran on them," Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad said. "But we do not want Iranian interference in Iraq."

Khalilzad also bluntly rejected recent Iranian calls for a British withdrawal from the southern Iraqi city of Basra, saying the demands were "uncalled for." The Iranians, he said, were trying to divert attention from a recent crisis over their nuclear program by "getting involved in something that's none of their business."

"The coalition forces are here under a U.N. mandate at the request of the Iraqi government," Khalilzad said. "Basra is Iraqi territory, the last time I checked the map."

My view of the Iranians?

They are always looking for ways to cause trouble. If they aren't hiding Al-Qaeda bigwigs, enriching Uranium, or funding Hamas suicide bombers; then they are targeting the security of the Iraqi people by funding wacko militias like the one belonging to Moqtada Al-Sadr.

Can we please go bomb them now?

Bewilderment

You know, sometimes, the logic of extremists and Islamofascists leaves me scratching my head.

I like to think that I'm semi-intelligent (after all, I have a GT score of a whopping 31 - if you don't know what a GT score is, you won't get the joke). Sometimes, however, I am presented with something that scrambles my brain.

I can't hear about Mohammed cartoons anymore. It's been played out. I equate the carton broohaha to the press' coverage of the VP's hunting accident. Enough is enough.

Now, Al-Qaeda is poised to fan the flames and get them going full swing again:

Al-Qaeda will try to exploit the Muslim uproar over cartoons satirising the Prophet Muhammad, the Danish foreign minister has warned.

Per Stig Moeller also said a $1m offer by a cleric in Pakistan to anyone who kills one of the cartoonists was incitement to murder and "un-Islamic"...

...Mr Moeller also condemned the $1m bounty put on the cartoonist's head by Peshawar cleric Maulana Yousaf Qureshi and his followers on Friday.

"It's murder and murder is also forbidden by the Koran," Mr Moeller said.

"Islam is also a religion of peace, mercy and forgiveness. That is why it is my opinion, but also the opinion of many Muslims, this is un-Islamic," he added.

Mr Qureshi last week defended his move.

"If the West can place a bounty on Osama bin Laden and Zawahiri we can also announce a reward for killing the man who has caused this sacrilege of the holy Prophet," he said, referring to the al-Qaeda leader and his deputy, Ayman al-Zawahri.

Note to Mr Qureshi: there is a huge difference between penning a tasteless cartoon and masterminding a terrorist attack that kills thousands of innocent human beings. Call it "splitting hairs", but I would put the Evil of Osama Bin Laden just a tad above a Danish cartooonist.

Just a tad.

Who Said Anything About Capturing You Alive?

...all we wanna do is kill you, your gay lover (Al-Zawahiri), and confirm with DNA.

Osama bin Laden promised never to be captured alive and declared the U.S. had resorted to the same "barbaric" tactics used by Saddam Hussein, according to an audiotape purportedly by the al-Qaida leader posted Monday on a militant Web site...

..."I have sworn to only live free. Even if I find bitter the taste of death, I don't want to die humiliated or deceived," bin Laden said. He also said U.S. actions in Iraq were comparable to the actions of the ousted Iraqi leader.

Dude... do you ever watch westerns?

LA Times: Honorable Eulogy For A Fallen Warrior

I want to make one thing clear:

A fallen Soldier is always a tragedy.

That being said, the usually liberal looney LA Times published an unusually honorable story on a fallen Soldier from Santa Rosa, CA.

Dennis Viglienzone shared an e-mail from his son -- sent to a cousin shortly before Caesar died -- that shed light on the soldier's feelings about his mission.

"Iraq is definitely going to be OK," it said. "The Iraqis don't hate us; they almost all wave at us and seem to like us. The vast majority of Iraqis want us here; not to keep occupying their country forever but want us to stay, finish the job and pass the torch onto them."

...Amen, Brother.

PFC Viglienzone, 21 years old, was serving with the legendary 101st Airborne (Air Assault) out of Ft. Campbell, KY. He was tragically killed in action on 01 Feb 2006 by a roadside bomb (IED) in Baghdad. Not mentioned in the LA Times article, however, is that PFC Viglienzone was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, and Combat Infantry Badge.

I didn't really expect them (the LA Times) to. Please take a moment to read PFC Viglienzone's obituary, and leave some words of condolence to his family in the guestbook. God bless you for taking the time to do so.

PFC Viglienzone was truly a warrior and a patriot. His death will not have been in vain. Cav Tanker and I won't ever allow it to be.

PFC Viglienzone's Military City "Honor The Fallen" page can be seen here.

How Do You Give The "One Finger Salute" In Iraq?

This just in from the BBC:

The US Military (read: Darth Rumsfeld) has invested in a complex computer program to teach Soldiers how to decipher Iraqi body language. No word on who the contractor who developed the program is, but I'll bet it's that evil Halliburton!

The purpose is to teach Soldiers that using the wrong gestures can potentially cause offence and escalate already tense situations.

In the program, users must build trust with local people through verbal communication and gestures.

One of the system's creators says the training tool, known as Tactical Iraqi, has already been a great success.

Hannes Vilhjalmsson, a research scientist at the University of Southern California, gave details of the Tactical Iraqi at a conference in St Louis, US.

The system also teaches troops Arabic language skills.

Whaaaaaat? "Build trust with local people"? Teaching us that "using the wrong gestures can potentially cause offence"? What's that all about?

Everyone knows we're killing machines! Everyone knows that we are just there to "terrorize Iraqi women and children in the dead of night".

Somebody better tell the DoD to get with the program! Didn't they "get the memo"?

This is WAR, DAMMIT!

"In Iraq, to show sincerity you have to put more effort into your gestures," said Dr Vilhjalmsson.

"In Western countries, we control our body language more. In Arabic culture, it is important you show how open you are."

He added that reserved body language in exchanges with local people could be interpreted as having something to hide in Iraq, potentially escalating a tense situation.

"Reserved body language"? What the hell is this guy talking about? Does wearing OTV Body Armor (you know, contrary to popular belief, the kind we are all required to have and wear while in Iraq) count as "reserved body language"?

The coolest thing about this:

Tactical Iraqi is built on top of the game engine for Unreal Tournament, a first-person computer "shoot-em-up". In the training tool, though, subjects use communication to resolve situations.

Woah. We're using the Unreal Tournament engine to learn peacekeeping. What will those devious Imperial DoD scientists think of next?

Has the ACLU been briefed on this?

Sorry

I'm sorry everyone. I know I haven't been on very much (or at all) this last month, but i have been out in the field doing "wargames" with the company. Once I get back I'll catch up on all the current events and return to the wonderful life life of speaking my mind! 'Til then, I'm pretty certain my brother has things well in hand. So, 'til then take care and I'll talk to you all soon.

A Year Ago Today...

15 FEB 2005, I returned from what will probably be the most difficult thing I had ever done, professionally, to date.

HOMECOMING!...

After 13+ Months deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 1, 2, and 3; the Soldiers of III Corps arrive back at Fort Hood, Texas!

My wife and parents were waiting for me when I arrived. It was great to see them. We loaded up all my gear and drove all the way home. Six Hours, but well worth the trip. It feels so good to finally be home. My mission is 99% complete. As soon as Little Brother gets home (in a few days), I will finally be able to call this a succesful deployment...

Looking back at that year that we spent in Iraq, it wasn't the mortars, the rockets, or the gunfire that bothered me the most. The one thing that bothered me was knowing I was there right next to Cav Tanker, and knowing that I could have lost him at any given time.

The feeling of "any minute now, I could get hit from out of nowhere" is doubled when you mix in your only sibling. The scary thing was that Ma and Pa Tanker back in Texas had their chances doubled of losing a son in combat.

Were they bitter that two sons were putting their lives on the line? Of course not. They were proud. They weren't out there protesting the war. On the gates of my parents house, there were two big yellow ribbons that fluttered in the wind, and my parents counted down the days until they could take them both down. In the front yard of my parents house, there's a flagpole with Ol' Glory, The Lone Star, and a US Army streamer that flies every single day (weather permitting).

I think of all the War Moms and War Dads out there. You don't hear of them, or from them, very often, 'cause they're the ones the Media doesn't like. They're the ones that believe in what we're fighting for. They get up in the morning, say their prayers, put up their flag, and are filled with pride that their sons and daughters are on Freedom's battlefield, taking the fight to the enemy who goes against everything we believe and hold dear.

And to those War Moms and Dads, the Tanker Brothers salute you.

Overheard on Limbaugh

"Would you rather go hunting with Dick Cheney or riding in a car over a bridge with Ted Kennedy?” Limbaugh asked. "At least Cheney takes you to the hospital.”

...And I'm Supposed to Care?

BBC reports that Iran has confirmed the first case of Bird Flu.

I don't get it.

Maybe we're supposed to send millions of dollars (like we do whenever any catastrophe happens to Iran, or any one of our other enemies for that matter), so they can funnel it into Uranium enrichment?

I'm pretty sure the Dems and Anti-War loonies would be all about sending money.

The first case of bird flu has been detected in Iran, officials there say, but it is unclear whether it is the deadly H5N1 strain.

Tests in Iran and abroad confirmed 135 swans had died of the virus in Anzali marshes, near Bandar Anzali in the north-west, in the past two weeks.

But statements conflict on the nature of the virus.

The finding follows reports of bird flu in wild water fowl further up the Caspian Sea coast in Azerbaijan.

A statement from the Iranian State Veterinary Organisation said only that the tests had shown the presence of the H5 virus, which kills only birds.

The highly-pathogenic H5N1 sub-strain has killed five people in Iraq and Turkey in recent months.

However, an official from the veterinary organisation, who declined to be named, told the Reuters news agency the strain was H5N1.

The official state news agency, Irna, also reported that "laboratory tests have confirmed H5N1 flu was the cause of death" of the 135 swans.

I'm sure that Iranian Dictator Wackaloon President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will claim the Israelis and Americans are waging a biological war on his swans.

Y'know...because "the crazier, the better..."

Saddam: Not Eating

Word on the BBC is that Saddam Hussein is on a hunger strike, protesting his treatment.

I guess sitting on his old butt and writing sappy poetry and snacking on gobs of Doritoes could be considered cruel and unusual.

Deposed Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein has told a Baghdad court that he and his seven co-accused are on hunger strike in protest at their treatment.

"We have been on a hunger strike for three days," Saddam Hussein declared as he appeared in the courtroom.

The session, which ran for about three hours, heard testimony from three former regime officials. The trial has been adjourned until 28 February.

The defendants deny charges over the 1982 massacre of 148 people in Dujail.

Dude...Saddam is starving himself...

What's the problem?

Another Thing That Gets On My Nerves...

...is when the Media gets downright disrespectful in its distaste and contempt for President Bush.

Ever since I was a Private in this Man's Army, my last name has been preceeded by my rank. When I was a Private, a Corporal, or a Sergeant, my Soldiers and my leaders always gave me the respect that such a simple gesture affords.

When I talk to or refer to an individual Soldier, I address him by his last name, preceeded by the rank he has earned. It's a sign of respect and acknowledgement for the progress he has made in his career. By doing so, you recognize that he 1) is a Soldier, 2) has made a commitment to serve his country. When I refer to a commossioned officer, I always preceed his name with the rank he has earned.

"Major Snuffy" for example, as opposed to just "Snuffy".

When I speak to a commissioned officer, even one with less time in service as I have, I always refer to him as "Sir" when I speak to him. It's military courtesy. And just good manners, overall.

Why can't the Media afford the same courtesy to my Commander-In-Chief? Why is every headline "Bush does this" or "Bush does that"? Is it so hard to call him President Bush?

Consider: He was elected by the majority of the citizens of the United States as our President. He deserves recognition of his position and what a monumental achievement it is to get there. President Bush graduated from Yale, and served as an Officer in the military. He is our duly elected leader. That position demands respect.

No matter how hard you wished for John Kerry or Al Gore to win either election, they didn't. They lost. Get over it.

It just burns me up when some dummy who doesn't know better looks at my nametag and calls me by my last name. That's how you can tell they are a civilian. A Soldier would never do that. I can't imagine how some snot-nosed Jayson Blair wannabe who gets his kicks slandering the President in print is ignorant of exactly who he is slandering.

I'm really sick of it.

I'm Back!

Sorry I've been neglecting my posting duties this past week. Between a ten-month old with a stomach virus, late hours at work, and cluster headaches and achy joints...I've had alot of stuff going on.

But I'm back. Thanks for stickin' around.

Iraqi Army: Kickin' Insurgent Butt!

I think it was Hannibal (George Peppard) from The A-Team that used to say: "...I love it when a plan comes together."

Once again, the Iraqi Army is making leaps in readiness and effectiveness, most recently conducting a huge raid against terrorists and insurgents north of Baghdad:

Bagdad

The Iraqi army arrested 103 suspected terrorists and insurgents during a raid to the north of Baghdad, an army spokesman said Sunday.

There were sporadic engagements with the enemy during the military operation in Makdadiyah in which two suspects were killed and one soldier wounded, the spokesman said...

The Iraqi Army is getting better and better, but not yet fully ready to take the reigns for security. It will take time and effort, but I have full confidence that the United States, the Coalition of the Willing, and our newest Strategic Partner in the Middle East (Iraq) will continue to hunt down, capture, and bring to justice the terrorists that threaten the lives, freedom, and security of the Iraqi people.

War Profiteers? You're Looking In The Wrong Place...

Profiteer: someone who makes excessive profit (especially on goods in short supply)

I've heard the Cindy Sheehan, Michael Moore, and Looney Left Anti-War Crazies cry about "Blood For Oil" and "War Profiteering" so many times, I'm dead sick of it.

Do you ever think, maybe for just a second, that the real profiteers of this war aren't Halliburton or KBR? Do you think, maybe for a second, that the people that make the most profit from the War On Terror are the people that cry the most about it?

Cindy Sheehan, before she lost her son and completely lost her mind, was a nobody. She was literally a non-person. No one cared what she said or who she was. To be even more honest, no one really cared up until she started her vigil outside President Bush's Crawford Ranch. Now, you can hire Cindy Sheehan to come speak at your extremist gathering. For a fee.

Never mind the fact that a Sheehan speaking engagement was recently put up for auction on Ebay.

But y'know...no one is making a profit on the left.

Another Profiteer: Michael Moore. Without Farenheit 9/11, the large one was done. What was he going to make a movie about? Has he even made a movie since? And for a guy like Moore, who claims that he 1) Doesn't invest in the Stock Market, and 2) Says Halliburton is a war profiteer, shouldn't he keep his money away from ...Halliburton?

Of course not. Michael Moore may be fat and have no talent, but he's not stupid. Michael Moore knows where the money is. Nevermind that Halliburton is bound by federal law to make less than a 3% profit from Defense Contracts. Nevermind that Michael Moore has made a huge profit blasting our President and the efforts of our Soldiers trying to win the Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Okay...maybe Moore is stupid, after all.

How about people like Code Pink, who rose to prominence slandering our Soldiers and our President? Oh, and by the way, they are more than happy to sell you a tee shirt to go with your lack of patriotism.

A Noble Cause...

Our wingman Jake over at FreedomFolks has alerted us to the noblest of causes:

Kit & Heidi from Euphoric Reality have asked for some help. They need to raise some money to attend the milbloggers conference in DC. We have offered to donate half the money from any sale of our CD to the cause, and three quarters of any MP3 sale.

C'mon, people...it's for a good cause! Please go the the FreedomFolks website and purchase a CD or the MP3 versions.

Trust me, it's great music, and you can even listen to samples on the site.

Good tunes, Good cause....

What are you waiting for?!?!?!?

New Iraqi Army: Better And Better

In yet another example of the ability of the New Iraqi Army to enforce security in Baghdad, forces captured the "Number 4" leader of Al-Qaeda in Iraq.

BAGHDAD: Iraqi forces have arrested a top leader of the Al Qaeda terror network, General Mahdi Sabeh Hashim of the interior ministry said in press remarks published on Monday.

Quoted by the government Al-Sabah newspaper, Hashim said ministry forces managed to arrest Mohammed Hadi Rabei Jassim. He said Jassim was arrested in the Adel neighbourhood in the western part of the city.

Hashim, however, did not say when the arrest took place. He said that the man was the fourth in the chain of command in the network led by Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi of Jordan.

He said the arrested person was wanted by the ministry for involvement in terror acts such as car bombings here and in other Iraqi cities that "killed innocent people".

Hashim said the militant was arrested following information about his location.

Look the the page that I pulled this article from: The Times Of India.

Isn't it strange that such a momentous event in the security of Iraq isn't being covered by the Mainstream media?

Why?

Why must the toil and efforts of both the Coalition of the Coerced Willing and the New Iraqi Army are largely ignored by our "Friends" in the American Press? Is it because they are so unwilling to admit that things aren't as bad as they portray them to be?

Why would they do that?

Is their hate for our Commander-In-Chief so great that they would ignore the leaps and bounds we've made in securing Iraq? Ask yourself: if a nation with a significantly large Muslim population publishes stories on our victories...what's wrong with our "trusted" press?

Moqtada al-Sadr + Bashar Assad = Love

April, 2004. Rogue Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr sent his Mahdi Army fanatics against US Forces in Baghdad and the city of Najaf. Al-Sadr, however, sat holed up in his office, too scared to lead his own forces into Battle.

Endstate? US and Iraqi Forces decimated the Mahdi Army. Reportedly, the Mahdi Army Militia is less than 10% of it's former strength.

Al-Sadr has always been a little punk, living in the shadow of his father.

Well, it looks like this little, cowardly punk has branched out to the West:

Radical Iraqi cleric Moqtada al-Sadr met Syrian President Bashar Assad in Damascus on Monday for talks on developments in Iraq, Syria's official news agency SANA reported.

The two discussed the situation in Iraq as well as the results of the December elections and consultations to form the new Iraqi government.

President Assad called for Iraqis to "close national ranks" to save Iraq and "liberate it from occupation," SANA said.

Referring to the internationl pressure on Iran over its nuclear programme, al-Sadr said he would be "one of the defenders of Syria and Iran and all Islamic states."Al-Sadr, who arrived in Damascus Sunday, hailed Syria's support for the Iraqi people and expressed solidarity with Damascus, saying he would continue to cooperate in the best interests of both countries.

The Shiite cleric told also reporters after meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa that "relations between Syria and Iraq are good but our mutual enemies; Israel, America and Britain try to make a rift between the two countries."

The two discussed bilateral relations and ways of improving them in all fields, SANA said.

Al-Sadr is the son of Mohammed Sadiq al-Sadr, a grand ayatollah slain by Saddam Hussein's forces in 1999. A popular leader among young and impoverished Shiites, he rose to prominence after the U.S. invasion in 2003.

Funny that he's meeting with Bashar Assad, isn't it?

The al-Assad family are members of the minority muslim Alawite group, and members of that group have been prominent in the governmental hierarchy and army since 1963 when Baath first seized power. Their origins are to be found in the Latakia region of north-west Syria. Bashar's family is originally from Qardaha, just east of Latakia.

Initially Bashar had few political aspirations. Hafez al-Assad had been grooming Bashar's older brother, Basil al-Assad to be the future president. However, Basil's premature death in an automobile accident in 1994 suddenly made Bashar his father's new heir apparent. When the elder Assad died in 2000, Bashar was duly elected President unopposed with apparent massive popular support, after Syria's Majlis Al Shaa'b (Parliament) swiftly voted to lower the minimum age for candidates from 40 to 34.

So there you have it: two tin-pot dictators trying to live up to their daddies, causing trouble the whole time.

And plotting against the US and the rest of the Coalition....

Mandatory Superbowl Post

Sorry... but I have to shove this in my fellow TankerBrother's (Cav Tanker's) face:

What's up with them Seahawks, Bro? Huh? Huh? Pretty good game, huh?

Rusty Centerguide Award: Cindy Sheehan

Without a doubt, this week's award goes to Crazy Cindy Sheehan for attempting to make a circus out of the State Of The Union address.

Sheehan, whose soldier son was killed in Iraq, was once a figure of considerable sympathy. Now she comes off as shrill, humorless and self-promoting, which is hard to do in the nation's capital, given the level of competition.

The night of President Bush's State of the Union message, she was ousted from the House visitors' gallery for wearing a T-shirt - that personal billboard for beliefs, products and places - with an antiwar slogan, "2,245 dead. How many more?"

She feels her right of free speech was infringed and wrote on her Web site, "I don't want to live in a country that prohibits any person ... from wearing, saying, writing, or telephoning any negative statements about the government."

She apparently does like living in a country that allows frivolous lawsuits, because she plans to file one.

Okay, this lady is getting out of control.

First, she keeps stalking my Commander-In-Chief. Second, she uses her honorable son's sacrifice to further her own celebrity, and to push her own agenda. Third, she made a pretty big fashion mistake by wearing a hoodie to the State Of The Union Address! Has anyone called Mr. Blackwell?

Cheers, Cindy. Here's to you, and you winning the (not) coveted Tanker Brothers' Rusty Centerguide Award!

The Best Mohammed Cartoon All Week!

Partamian Report dug this cartoon up somewhere or other.

I think it's hilarious.

No Danes were harmed when creating this post.

Funny Or Not?

I came across this Beetle Bailey Cartoon (since cartoons are all the rage this week). Mort Walker drew it, but the words were put in there by someone else. The attached article gives some hints on the authors political persuasion.

Would anyone mind if I showed outrage? (LOL!)

Don't worry...I wouldn't advocate beheading anyone over it. But I'm sure Jane "US Soldiers Are Killing Machines" Fonda would get a kick out it.

Noble Cause For Today: Books For Soldiers

There are so many things you can send Soldiers nowadays: Candy, Cookies, Toothbrushes, etc...

Why not send a Care package for his/her mind?

Books For Soldiers is a Non-Profit, Non-Denominational Organization that does just what the title implies. Check 'em out.

...Is This What It Will Come To?

I saw this cartoon this morning. I couldn't stop laughing.

"Religion Of Peace"

Isn't it sad how one guy ruins it for everybody? (Once again, that crazy sarcasm)

Of course, I doubt he would uncover his face. Extremists are cowardly like that.

Blog Of The Day: Freedom Folks!

Are you frustrated with the inability of our government to gaurantee our security by having a broken immigration policy that is a key enabler of our lack of border security?

Are you ticked off that the Mexican Military is collaborating with Coyotes and drug smugglers, often crossing over the border to provide security for these illegal operations?

When the Minutemen attempt to help secure our borders by posting observation stations along the border, with the expressed purpose of alerting Border Patrol and Homeland Security elements to illegal activity along the border, do you feel pride that finally someone is doing something?

Are you proud to be an American, the greatest nation on the face of the earth???

Then check out FreedomFolks. Subscribe to their RSS feed. I do.

Jake and Michelle run a very well-written, very witty Blog that focuses on the immigration problem and is just one hell of a fun read!

Muslim Outrgae: Myth Or Reality?

Neal Boortz published an article recently on the myth of "Muslim Outrage" (I'm being sarcastic). Kudos to RightTruth for finding this.

* Muslims fly commercial airliners into buildings in New York City. No Muslim outrage.
* Muslim officials block the exit where school girls are trying to escape a burning building because their faces were exposed. No Muslim outrage.
* Muslims cut off the heads of three teenaged girls on their way to school in Indonesia. A Christian school. No Muslim outrage.
* Muslims murder teachers trying to teach Muslim children in Iraq. No Muslim outrage.
* Muslims murder over 80 tourists with car bombs outside cafes and hotels in Egypt. No Muslim outrage.
* A Muslim attacks a missionary children's school in India. Kills six. No Muslim outrage.
* Muslims slaughter hundreds of children and teachers in Beslan, Russia. Muslims shoot children in the back. No Muslim outrage.
* Let's go way back. Muslims kidnap and kill athletes at the Munich Summer Olympics. No Muslim outrage.
* Muslims fire rocket-propelled grenades into schools full of children in Israel. No Muslim outrage.
* Muslims murder more than 50 commuters in attacks on London subways and busses. Over 700 are injured. No Muslim outrage.
* Muslims massacre dozens of innocents at a Passover Seder. No Muslim outrage.
* Muslims murder innocent vacationers in Bali. No Muslim outrage.
* Muslim newspapers publish anti-Semitic cartoons. No Muslim outrage
* Muslims are involved, on one side or the other, in almost every one of the 125+ shooting wars around the world. No Muslim outrage.
* Muslims beat the charred bodies of Western civilians with their shoes, then hang them from a bridge. No Muslim outrage.
* Newspapers in Denmark and Norway publish cartoons depicting Mohammed. Muslims are outraged.

On occasion, I like to "tune up" my blogging process. In this case, I came upon an extension for Firefox 1.5 that allows me to post form my blog from right within Firefox. Pretty nifty...we'll see how it works out.

Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions for smooting out the burrs in the blogging process?

Sandy Burglar: Dubya Breaking The Military

I don't even think I should even comment on this article. It speaks for itself.

Disgraced former National Security Advisor Sandy Berger is blasting President Bush for undermining U.S. defenses by "breaking" the military.

A just-released report co-authored by Berger and several other top Clinton administration officials complains: "We believe that the Bush administration has broken faith with the American soldier and Marine."

According to the web site ISN Security Watch, the report by Berger & Co. contends that the Bush administration's poor planning ahead of the Iraq war, a shortage of troops and not enough equipment or protection for troops could result in "breaking the force."

The disgraced Clinton official offered his national security criticisms despite pleading guilty less than a year ago to stealing and destroying top secret national security documents in a bid to thwart the 9/11 Commission investigation.

Other ex-Clinton officials who contributed to the report include former Secretary of State Madeliene Albright, former Defense Secretary William Perry and former presidential candidate, Gen. Wesley Clark.

...screw it. I can't resist the temptation.

Why is anyone from the Clinton Administration commenting on breaking the military? I mean, other than they are subject-matter experts on breaking the military, having done so for eight years during Slick Willie's Administration.

1. The post-Desert Storm drawdown: You know, when we put thousands and thousands of servicemen and servicewomen out of the military before their 20-year Retirement Eligibility.
2. Turning the other cheek when we were attacked time and time again (Kenya, Tanzania, USS Cole, the first WTC bombing, the Kohbar Towers).
3. Committing our war-fighters to Peacekeeping duty  in Bosnia, Kosovo, Macedonia, etc... You know, when they had already done their best to gut the military of personnel?
4. Cutting bleeding-edge weapons programs like the Crusader SP Howitzer?
5. Refusing to supplement US forces in Somalia with badly-needed armor support?
6. Budgeting only 3.3% of the GDP for defense, as opposed to the First President Bush's 4.6% of GDP?
7. And I quote:

Military chiefs call for tens of billions more in defense spending
September 27, 2000

"WASHINGTON (CNN) -- America's top military leaders told Congress on Wednesday that the U.S. military needs tens of billions of dollars in additional funds to reverse its recent decline in readiness, and to replace aging weapons and equipment.

Testifying before the Senate and House Armed Services Committees, [Clinton's] Joint Chiefs of Staff presented a unified front, saying budget cuts in the mid 1990s 'mortgaged the future' of the military."

The Usual Suspects?

From the Wikipedia:

Former SECSTATE Madeline Albright:

As Secretary of State, Albright incurred the wrath of many Serbs in the former Yugoslavia because of her perceived anti-Serb position and her role in participating in the formulation of U.S. policy during the Kosovo War and Bosnian war as well as the rest of the Balkans. From Bosnia, international news reports and video footage showed Bosnian men detainees in concentration camps down to skin and bones. John Fox, a US State Department specialist told Peter Jennings of ABC News that he was told not to tell the truth: "We could not continue to confirm the existence of concentration camps." He said the order came from a very senior official "on the seventh floor of the State Department". ABC News executive producer David Gelber told Jennings: "Imagine that the US government knew there were concentration camps in Bosnia and wouldn't confirm it because they didn't want political pressure put on them to do something about it."

Former SECDEF William Perry:

Clearly Perry bore a heavy load during his term as secretary of defense between 1994 and 1997. Fine-tuning the budget, downsizing the military, and conducting humanitarian, peacekeeping, and military operations provided him with a full agenda.

Former NATO Commander Gen. Wesley Clark:

...in April 1999 Clark had stated in an interview with the BBC program Panorama, that the NATO bombing campaign “was not designed as a means of blocking Serb ethnic cleansing. It was not designed as a means of waging war against the Serb and MUP [paramilitary police] forces in Kosovo. Not in any way. There was never any intent to do that. That was not the idea.” Thus, the war's opponents claimed that NATO's armed intervention was both unlawful in nature and means.

So, what do the TankerBrothers say to Burglar, Albright, Perry, and Clark?

Shaddap!

...In All Fairness:

Arab Cartoons Trash 9/11, Holocaust

Muslims all over the world are outraged over a series of cartoons that have appeared in European newspapers in recent months that feature the prophet Mohammed in ways that suggest he condones terrorism.

Al Jazeera reports, for instance:

"Up to 300 Indonesian Muslims went on a rampage in the lobby of a building housing the Danish embassy in Jakarta on Friday. Shouting 'Allahu Akbar' [God is Greatest], they smashed lamps with bamboo sticks, threw chairs, lobbed rotten eggs and tomatoes and tore up a Danish flag."

These same outraged folks, however, have yet to express a peep of protest over cartoons that routinely appear in the Arab press, which poke fun at the 9/11 attacks and the Holocaust.

Mideast media watchdog Tom Gross has collected on his web site a few of the cartoons that keep some of these sensitive souls in stitches.

One knee-slapper that ran Qatar's Al-Watan newspaper nine months after the 9/11 attacks shows former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon watching as an Israeli plane crashes into the World Trade Center. The Arabic words alongside the Twin Towers are "The Peace."

Then there's the cartoon that appeared in the Jordanian newspaper Ad-Dustur in October 2003, which depicted the railroad tracks to Auschwitz-Birkenau.

The punchline? Israeli flags have replaced the swastikas flying above the death camp - with a caption that reads: "Gaza Strip or the Israeli Annihilation Camp.”

And for those who can't appreciate the humor in that tableau, there's always the cartoon that ran in Saudi Arabia's Arab News in April 2002, which shows Prime Minister Sharon wielding a swastika-shaped axe to chop up Palestinian children.

As Mr. Gross notes: Most print media in the Arab world are under the full or partial control of the ruling regimes.

Y'know...since they (Muslims) are sensitive to being depicted wrongly in cartoons and all....

Muslims Freak Out Over Danish Cartoons!

...hmmm...it seems to me that if you don't want to be depicted as bomb-toting terrorists, you should police the Islamo-Fascists that blow themselves up!

Police from within, people.

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip  — Tens of thousands of angry Muslims marched through Palestinian cities, burning the Danish flag and calling for vengeance Friday against European countries where caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad were published...

...The caricatures, including one depicting the Muslim prophet wearing a turban fashioned into a bomb, were reprinted in papers in Norwegian, French, German and even Jordanian after first appearing in a Danish paper in September. The drawings were republished after Muslims decried the images as insulting to their prophet. Dutch-language newspapers in Belgium and two Italian right-wing papers reprinted the drawings Friday.

Let me get this straight: No one freaks out when that no-talent schmuck Kanye West poses on the front of Rolling Stone Magazine wearing a crown of thorns, but all of a sudden Muslims around the world rise up in anger when Mohammed is depicted holding a bomb?

Early Friday, Palestinian militants threw a bomb at a French cultural center in Gaza City, and many Palestinians began boycotting European goods, especially those from Denmark.

"Whoever defames our prophet should be executed," said Ismail Hassan, 37, a tailor who marched through the pouring rain along with hundreds of others in the West Bank city of Ramallah.

"Bin Laden our beloved, Denmark must be blown up," protesters in Ramallah chanted.

In mosques throughout Palestinian cities, clerics condemned the cartoons. An imam at the Omari Mosque in Gaza City told 9,000 worshippers that those behind the drawings should have their heads cut off.

The Palestinians are talking about blowing people up? Wow. That;s out of the ordinary, isn't it? And people that don't want to be depicted as bloodthirsty and barbaric are advocating, even calling for, the beheading of a cartoonist? Doesn't that violate some universal irony law or something?

In all fairness, I was a bit bent out of shape when the Washington Post published a shameful political cartoon that callously depicted a Soldier that had his arms and legs amputated. I did not, however, suggest that Tom Toles (the cartoonist) be beheaded or his place of work or residence be bombed. All I asked for was for the Washington Post to have some measure of respect for our Soldiers.

Hey, Muslims: if you want to be recognized as a religion of "peace"...don't call for the beheading or bombing of people. No matter how annoying they are, or how bad their "artwork" is.

...Get With The Program, People!

I was looking at out System Stats last night...and I walked away shaking my head.

67.18% of y'all use Internet Explorer? Hello...Firefox 1.5! And I quote: "A Better Web Experience: Firefox 1.5 has an intuitive interface and blocks viruses, spyware, and popup ads. It delivers Web pages faster than ever. And it’s easy to install and import your favorites. Packed with useful features like tabbed browsing, Live Bookmarks, and an integrated Search bar, Firefox will change the way you experience the Web, for the better."

The tabbed browsing by itself is well woth the download. No more bajillion Internet Explorer windows open all at the same time. All your surfing done from one window. Simple.

Also: even though a very small minority (12%) of you have your screen resolution set at 800x600, we here at Tanker Brothers want everyone to be able to see what's going on, with little or no side-to-side scrolling. So when we tinker with the template, we always make sure to optimize everything for people who use the absolute minimum resolution on their monitors. Personally, I have a 1280x1024 17" LCD monitor, and it looks beautiful. But to be honest, I'm kind of sad when I look at how much real estate is wasted when we have to format for the lower resolution displays. As a favor to me...try checking out the blog at 1024x768...meet me halfway.

Shameless...

I cannot stand those dishonorable, unpatriotic traitors over at World Can't Wait , a political activist organization that does nothing but cause trouble.

Proving they are at the height of tacky, though:

1. They need half a million dollars. If you were so effective at combatting the "tyranny of Bush", peoble would be flocking to you, throwing money. You wouldn't have to beg for it. Get a clue.

2. I was reading their site....it's funny, because each and every one of their events "has the potential to be a turning point". Shoot...I could "potentially" win the lottery, but I'm not going to bet the farm on it.

3. They need the money to put full page ads in the Washington Post. Dude...the New York Times and the LA Times would probably give you loonies a full page for free.

4. They need the money to buy raido time on Black talk radio and Spanish-speaking radio stations? Why do they have to be Black? Why do they have to be Spanish-speaking? Is it because you percieve minorities as "less than fortunate", and don't think we can make our own decisions or keep ourselves "informed"? Or better yet, is it because you think that being minorities, we can be more easily led down the path the left offers? Dude...here's a news flash: President Bush actually improved his turnout with Black and Hispanic voters in the 2004 Presidential Elections. Minorities are waking up, and they aren't letting themselves be taken for granted by the left. In a few years, the only looney lefties , um... left, will be upper-crust effeminate metrosexuals that hug trees and get waxed more often than their girlfriends. Guys. Like. You.

5. Targeted TV spots? Targeted at who? Lemme guess: Blacks and, ahem, "Spanish Speakers", right? And you're going to put them on during...here it comes...Dr. Phil and Oprah? Because that's what minorities do, right?

6. You need MY donation? Large and small? But especially large? Hold your breath. Don't let it out until my check comes. Or better yet, as I like to say: "Want in one hand and piss in the other...see which one fills up first."

7. My government is waging a murderous and utterly illegitimate war? Ohmigod! Ohmigod! I thought you meant the War in Iraq! You know, the one where the UN passed resolutions authorizing force against Saddam Hussein for non-compliance with weapons inspections. The one where both the Senate and the House Of Representatives authorized the President of the United States to use any means necessary, including force of arms, to take out Saddam Hussein. I thought you meant the War that guys like the Tanker Brothers fought in, and will continue to fight in, because effeminate pansy boys like you are too scared or weak to do anything for your country but bitch and complain. You can pick up a protest sign, but an M16A2 rifle would just be too damn much, wouldn't it?

Couldn't Have Said It Better Myself!

Thor over at RedSky calls it like he sees it. I respect that.

Ayman al-Zawahiri has peeped out his little prairie dog head to launch a video missile at George Bush. According to CNN, he stated, "My first message is to the butcher of Washington, Bush: You are not just defeated and lying about it, but you are, with God's help, a loser," he said. "You are bad luck to your people; you brought them disasters and catastrophes, and you will bring them even more disasters."

Oh my! Whatever shall the good people of the United States do? The US is losing this war to these brave terrorists, these scary warriors of Allah? Never mind that Saddam will soon be swinging from the end of a rope. Never mind that the US soldiers and marines toppled two tyrannical Islamo-fascist regimes like taking candy from a baby. Never mind that all these courageous jihadists can do is kidnap and kill their own people, a bunch of unarmed contractors, and defenseless women and children. Contrary to all reason and fact, Allah has apparently made the US a bunch of losers after all. Of course! It is so clear to me now. That is why George Bush will actually be broadcasting his State of the Union speech from a forgotten cave in West Virginia. The speech will not be live. It will be previously taped and delayed to give him enough time to crawl into another hole, lest the all-powerful al Qaeda pinpoint his location and bomb him to oblivion.

These glorified camel riders just do not get it. They do not understand the American spirit. The more these holy warriors threaten, the more they hurt, the more they kill, the more they pave their own highway to hell.

...my sentiments exactly. RedSky is definitely on my "cool" list.

State Of The Union Address: A Second Look (Part Two)

Let me reiterate, I am fortunate enough to have a wife that's the perfect mix of beauty and brains (and that she's on the RNC mailing list, LOL). This second part continues my commentary on the SOTU Address last night:

...We remain on the offensive in Afghanistan - where a fine president and national assembly are fighting terror while building the institutions of a new democracy.

This was an obvious "shout-out" to Hamid Karzai and the hard work his nation has accomplished on the road to a free democracy.

And we are on the offensive in Iraq, with a clear plan for victory. First, we are helping Iraqis build an inclusive government, so that old resentments will be eased, and the insurgency marginalized. Second, we are continuing reconstruction efforts, and helping the Iraqi government to fight corruption and build a modern economy, so all Iraqis can experience the benefits of freedom. Third, we are striking terrorist targets while we train Iraqi forces that are increasingly capable of defeating the enemy. Iraqis are showing their courage every day, and we are proud to be their allies in the cause of freedom.

Our work in Iraq is difficult, because our enemy is brutal. But that brutality has not stopped the dramatic progress of a new democracy. In less than three years, that nation has gone from dictatorship, to liberation, to sovereignty, to a constitution, to national elections. At the same time, our coalition has been relentless in shutting off terrorist infiltration, clearing out insurgent strongholds, and turning over territory to Iraqi security forces. I am confident in our plan for victory ... I am confident in the will of the Iraqi people ... I am confident in the skill and spirit of our military. Fellow citizens, we are in this fight to win, and we are winning.

The road of victory is the road that will take our troops home. As we make progress on the ground, and Iraqi forces increasingly take the lead, we should be able to further decrease our troop levels - but those decisions will be made by our military commanders, not by politicians in Washington, D.C.

First off, the first paragraph above should effectively shut up the "no plan for victory" crowd. President Bush , in one single paragraph, set out a path to winning the War for Democracy in Iraq. That's why he gets paid "the big bucks". Unlike John Kerry and John Murtha, he has vision, and a clear goal, with a plan to accomplish both. That's why he's the guy giving the State Of The Union Address, and not some liberal candidate who doesn't have the stones to finish the job.

The last paragraph outlines the plan for bringing the troops home. You have to admit, it's alot more honorable than "Cut and Run". Hooah.

Our coalition has learned from experience in Iraq. We have adjusted our military tactics and changed our approach to reconstruction. Along the way, we have benefited from responsible criticism and counsel offered by Members of Congress of both parties. In the coming year, I will continue to reach out and seek your good advice.

There's the "reaching out" thing again. The President is inviting the Democrat nay-sayers to climb aboard and adopt a winning strategy for the war, without them losing face. That's a pretty solid deal, and a win-win situation for everyone. Will the Dems jump at it?

I doubt it.

Yet there is a difference between responsible criticism that aims for success, and defeatism that refuses to acknowledge anything but failure. Hindsight alone is not wisdom. And second-guessing is not a strategy.

Once again with the subtle scolding, trying to prod the Dems to come over and be a unified team. Another shot of Kerry by Fox News. A momentary shot of Hillary. Is Fox trying to say something?

With so much in the balance, those of us in public office have a duty to speak with candor. A sudden withdrawal of our forces from Iraq would abandon our Iraqi allies to death and prison ... put men like bin Laden and Zarqawi in charge of a strategic country ... and show that a pledge from America means little. Members of Congress: however we feel about the decisions and debates of the past, our Nation has only one option: We must keep our word, defeat our enemies, and stand behind the American military in its vital mission.

President Bush did a good job here of summing up his position on tenacity in the War on Terror. I think this part wasn't so much pointed at anyone in particular, but more summarizing his position. I especially like that he incorporated a view into what would happen if we left without finishing the job. Once again, The President alludes to maintaining our Honor and reaffirms our commitment to our Soldiers and to our eventual Victory over International Terrorism.

Our men and women in uniform are making sacrifices - and showing a sense of duty stronger than all fear. They know what it is like to fight house to house in a maze of streets ... to wear heavy gear in the desert heat ... to see a comrade killed by a roadside bomb. And those who know the costs also know the stakes. Marine Staff Sergeant Dan Clay was killed last month fighting the enemy in Fallujah. He left behind a letter to his family, but his words could just as well be addressed to every American. Here is what Dan wrote: "I know what honor is. It has been an honor to protect and serve all of you. I faced death with the secure knowledge that you would not have to.... Never falter! Don't hesitate to honor and support those of us who have the honor of protecting that which is worth protecting."

Every time President Bush speaks of what the Soldiers are experiencing, and how proficient they have become at fighting a different kind of war, I swell with pride. He's talking about us. He's talking about our sweat, the adrenaline we feel when we roll out of the gate on a patrol or a raid. And above all, he speaks of the commitment to duty that every single one of my brothers and sisters-in-arms feels every single day. It makes me proud that this honorable man, the Leader of the Free World, can break down so simply and so accurately the feelings of Soldiers from Four-Star Generals, to the Lowly Infantry Private. That's why President Bush is so respected and loved by the US Military. That's why we're proud to call him our Commander-In-Chief.

Finally, he talks about Marine SSgt Clay. Knowing how he feels about every single death we suffer in Iraq, knowing how personally he takes each loss, it fills me with pride when he recognizes the bravery and heroism of our fallen brethren. I know he means every single word. I know he feels pride in the accomplishments of all of those in his charge: all of us that he commands.

Tomorrow, we'll continue with Part Three: the Future of the War on Terror.

Insult...And Redepmtion!

Words cannot express the anger and shame I felt when I saw this cartoon for the first time:

I wasn't the only one that was pissed off. That cartoon got some pretty important people pissed off as well (trust me....it's worth clicking to get a bigger view):

What does everybody think?

State Of The Union Address: A Second Look (Part One)

I am fortunate enough to have a wife that's the perfect mix of beauty and brains (and that she's on the RNC mailing list, LOL). I was reading through the SOTU Address this morning, and here's my point-by-point critique of the speech's highlights:

...We have served America through one of the most consequential periods of our history - and it has been my honor to serve with you.

...there will always be differences and debate. But even tough debates can be conducted in a civil tone, and our differences cannot be allowed to harden into anger. To confront the great issues before us, we must act in a spirit of good will and respect for one another - and I will do my part...

In this decisive year, you and I will make choices that determine both the future and the character of our country. We will choose to act confidently in pursuing the enemies of freedom - or retreat from our duties in the hope of an easier life. We will choose to build our prosperity by leading the world economy - or shut ourselves off from trade and opportunity. In a complex and challenging time, the road of isolationism and protectionism may seem broad and inviting - yet it ends in danger and decline. The only way to protect our people ... the only way to secure the peace ... the only way to control our destiny is by our leadership - so the United States of America will continue to lead.

...Classic. Dubya is "reaching out" to the Democrats, while subtly scolding them to get on the winning side and work towards a mutually secure future. I especially love the "But even tough debates can be conducted in a civil tone, and our differences cannot be allowed to harden into anger. To confront the great issues before us, we must act in a spirit of good will and respect for one another - and I will do my part." quote, as he is firmly bringing the focus to bear on the recent ranting and ravings of the Loony Liberals like Harry Reid, Teddy Kennedy, John Kerry, and Nancy Pelosi. He's calling them out, and trying to nudge them back towards bi-partisan cooperation. Whether they understand that, and take the Olive Branch, is unlikely. I think the President is smart enough to recognize that.

In the third paragraph quoted above, Dubya scolds the Dems for trying to push the cowardly "Cut and Run" Murtha option. Namely, he's referring to it in the "
retreat from our duties in the hope of an easier life" line. To be honest, though, he does a great job of masking it, going out of his way to likening it to the world economy. Everybody but the President and the Democrats missed the significance of the line.

Abroad, our Nation is committed to an historic, long-term goal - we seek the end of tyranny in our world. Some dismiss that goal as misguided idealism. In reality, the future security of America depends on it. On September 11th, 2001, we found that problems originating in a failed and oppressive state seven thousand miles away could bring murder and destruction to our country. Dictatorships shelter terrorists, feed resentment and radicalism, and seek weapons of mass destruction. Democracies replace resentment with hope, respect the rights of their citizens and their neighbors, and join the fight against terror. Every step toward freedom in the world makes our country safer, and so we will act boldly in freedom's cause.

Far from being a hopeless dream, the advance of freedom is the great story of our time. In 1945, there were about two dozen lonely democracies on Earth. Today, there are 122. And we are writing a new chapter in the story of self-government - with women lining up to vote in Afghanistan ... and millions of Iraqis marking their liberty with purple ink ... and men and women from Lebanon to Egypt debating the rights of individuals and the necessity of freedom. At the start of 2006, more than half the people of our world live in democratic nations. And we do not forget the other half - in places like Syria, Burma, Zimbabwe, North Korea, and Iran - because the demands of justice, and the peace of this world, require their freedom as well.

I think it's inspiring that some of the President's greatest speeches, some of most moving addresses, are when he talks about the intangible factors that make the United States such a great place to live. Words like "Freedom", "end of tyranny", "Democracy", "Peace", and "Justice" are delivered with such heartfelt conviction, it's amazing how far he's come since the days when he was "misunderestimated" by his detractors. Can you believe that just six years ago, everyone thought that foreign policy was his weak suit? Everyone used to laugh at how he used to have "late night cram sessions" with his advisers, as if he was studying for a mid-term in college? Now, here we are, in 2006. Two amazingly brutal, despotic regimes have been literally crushed by American might, and we have gained two strategically crucial allies in their place. Look at a World Map.

Go ahead, I'll wait.

Got it?

Good.

Now look at where Iraq is. Look at where Afghanistan is. Now take a gander at the country in between them, topographically. Look at the country who is just to the West-Northwest of Iraq. Is it starting to make sense?

Every time I hear or read words like the President spoke, "
In 1945, there were about two dozen lonely democracies on Earth. Today, there are 122.", I think of the words written by Abraham Lincoln and delivered at Gettysburg: " It is rather for us the living, we here be dedicated to the great task remaining before us--that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they here gave the last full measure of devotion--that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain, that this nation shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth."

The United States; through our President, his foreign policy, and the sweat and blood of the US Military, is ensuring that Democracy is spreading, and has become like a wildfire that soon, no one will ever be able to extinguish through tyranny and despotism.

Terrorists like bin Laden are serious about mass murder - and all of us must take their declared intentions seriously. They seek to impose a heartless system of totalitarian control throughout the Middle East, and arm themselves with weapons of mass murder. Their aim is to seize power in Iraq, and use it as a safe haven to launch attacks against America and the world. Lacking the military strength to challenge us directly, the terrorists have chosen the weapon of fear...

...But they have miscalculated: We love our freedom, and we will fight to keep it.

We will not be afraid. No matter what Bin Laden and Zarqawi do, it's just a matter of time before we catch them and bring them to Justice. And no matter how many people they recruit to terrorize the world, eventually, they will run out of people to exploit.

In a time of testing, we cannot find security by abandoning our commitments and retreating within our borders. If we were to leave these vicious attackers alone, they would not leave us alone. They would simply move the battlefield to our own shores. There is no peace in retreat. And there is no honor in retreat. By allowing radical Islam to work its will - by leaving an assaulted world to fend for itself - we would signal to all that we no longer believe in our own ideals, or even in our own courage.

Another, less thinly veiled, attack on the John Murtha/John Kerry "Cut and Run" crowd. Maybe we can shame them into some common sense. At this point, Fox News cut to a shot of Kerry. You could almost read his lips as he spoke to the lady next to him. It looked like "a..hole" to me.

But our enemies and our friends can be certain: The United States will not retreat from the world, and we will never surrender to evil.

...
America rejects the false comfort of isolationism. We are the Nation that saved liberty in Europe, and liberated death camps, and helped raise up democracies, and faced down an evil empire. Once again, we accept the call of history to deliver the oppressed, and move this world toward peace.

Wind effectively taken out of the "Cut and Run" crowds sails. We're staying the course. Deal with it.

We remain on the offensive against terror networks. We have killed or captured many of their leaders - and for the others, their day will come.

Hooah. Like I said: it's just a matter of time.

Stick around for part two later today...

Robin Williams' Plan For The War On Terror

I'm not a big fan of mass emails, but I just had to pass this on. While not a huge fan of Mr. Williams, he is a good supporter of the US Military. I remember back in 2004, Mr. Williams was on a USO tour in Iraq, and lots of Soldiers from the mighty First Cavalry Division (1CD) got the opportunity to meet him at Camp Liberty.

Without further ado, Mr. Williams' Plan for the War on Terror:

Robin Williams' plan...(Hard to argue with this logic!)

"I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace. So, here's one plan."

1) "The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those "good ole boys", we will never "interfere" again.

2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany, South Korea, the Middle East, and the Philippines. They don't want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence.

3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom or where they are.  They're illegal!!!  France will welcome them.

4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit!!!! No one from a terrorist nation will be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be available  to anyone.  We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.

5) No foreign "students" over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home baby.

6) The US will make a strong effort  to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while.

7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go someplace else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.)

8) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not "interfere." They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given  to the army. The people who need it most get very little, if anything.

9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island someplace. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.

10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us "Ugly Americans" any longer. The Language we speak is ENGLISH...learn it..or LEAVE...Now, isn't that a winner of a plan?

"The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses." She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'you want a piece of me?' "

[Edit] From Ask.com. Even though Williams may be a "Left-Leaning Liberal", I still respect him for braving the dangers of Iraq in order to bring a smile to the faces of some of the warriors of the mighty First Cav. Here's the text from the Ask.com page on this so-called "Urban Myth":

Comments:   One would expect a piece written by Robin Williams to be smart and funny, which this lackluster synopsis of the Top Ten Sentiments Most Likely to be Heard on Right-Wing Talk Radio is not. Apart from the final quotation (an actual quip, sans original context, from his comedy act), Williams — a so-called "San Francisco liberal" whose left-leaning political views have angered conservatives and earned him billing on at least one Internet-posted "celebrity blacklist" — clearly did not write the thing.

Who did write it remains a mystery, if not a particularly interesting one. Early versions circulated in March 2003 before the Robin Williams tagline was added went entirely uncredited.

To be honest, I don't even care if Williams did/didn't write it. It's still a pretty darn good "common sense" rant to get the crybabies around the World off our backs. The points on illegal immigration also make good common sense.

Words Of Wisdom

One of our readers wrote this comment, and I wanted to share it with y'all:
"... my observation is that today's anti-liberation/hatebush(progressive Leftists) crowd holds such hatred for President Bush because he symbolizes the noble American character that progressive Leftists had been attempting to destroy these past three decades. They project all their failures unto Bush as the reason why their quest for a Collective Equalized Utopia has failed never realizing for one moment that the reason for their failure is due to the fact that individual Liberty is far more effective than collective Equalization..." That's awesome. And it explains alot.

It also gives me hope that the Anti-War Leftys are doomed to failure.
